“hope anchors the soul”
Easter really is a holiday about hope and it’s definitely worthy of good celebration! This year J and I hosted for his family. One sis traveled from the Cities while another came with her husband from the Fargo area. It was a cozy little holiday and Rue loved all the people over to play with! For the meal we made ham with a honey-brown sugar-mustard glaze, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and the Pioneer Woman’s dressing (which was delicious – and definitely added to the list of go-to’s for homemade recipes). J’s sis made homemade cheesecake for dessert and we ate and drank to our content.
After hours of visiting and one sis hit the road, the four of us naturally turned to appropriate Spring conversations: our gardens and camping trips. It was a lovely day and after everyone had gone home and the house was quiet, we enjoyed solitude well spent – even Rue! She was tuckered out and camped out on our bed to rest. One more check on making a house a home: hosting holidays.
